Fourteen of the ones we hear most

Parent questions, answered

Grouped by the four things parents call about. If yours is not here, our coordinators genuinely like answering the phone.

First visits

By the first birthday, or within six months of the first tooth appearing. Early visits are short and gentle, and they help us spot problems while they are easy to fix.

A tour, a knee-to-knee exam for little ones, a quick clean if your child is ready, fluoride varnish and a chat with you about teething, brushing and snacks. Most first visits take about 45 minutes.

Always. Parents are welcome in the room for every visit. We will even find you a chair with a good view.

Keep it simple and positive. Read our first visit guide together, avoid words like hurt or shot, and let them bring a favorite stuffed animal to get checked too.

Insurance & costs

We are in network with Delta Dental of Idaho, Blue Cross of Idaho, MetLife, Cigna, Guardian and Idaho Smiles (Medicaid), and we file claims for most other PPO plans.

Our Little Molars Membership covers two checkups, cleanings, X-rays and fluoride each year, plus discounts on treatment, for a flat monthly or yearly fee.

Yes. We offer CareCredit and Sunbit with 0% options for qualifying families, plus in-house plans for larger treatment.

Care & comfort

Yes. Nitrous oxide is a safe, mild relaxant that wears off within minutes. Many kids say it feels like floating.

We use tell-show-do, let kids set the pace, offer headphones and ceiling TVs, and book longer visits when needed. Sedation is available when comfort measures are not enough.

Call (208) 555-0144. We hold same-day emergency slots, and after hours the line reaches our on-call dentist.

At home

Use a rice-grain smear of fluoride toothpaste as soon as the first tooth appears, and a pea-sized amount from age 3.

Most kids need help until about age 7 or 8, roughly when they can tie their own shoes. Let them go first, then do a parent pass.

Juice bathes teeth in sugar and acid. Water and milk are best. If you serve juice, keep it to a small cup with a meal.

Ask us anything at the first visit

Bring your list. We book longer first appointments on purpose so there is time for parent questions at the end.
